Assouline In The Spirit Of Saint Tropez

Saint Tropez is merely a village. Bathed in an iridescent light that caressed the eye and attracted a host of artists at the turn of the twentieth century, this village saw it's hayday come in the middle of the 1950's, when a young Franco-Russian film-maker brought cameras and crew to its sun-dazzled beaches to make his first feature film: And God Created Woman. The shock wave created by Roger Vadim revealed a resplendent creature (Birgitte Bardot) a legend, a style, a world. In its pearly haven, artists, film stars, playboys and top models would spend sun-soaked days and starry nights that have since entered the pages of history.
